Start with the first book
Indie Author School is for anyone who is currently writing their first novel and is wondering what happens once you finish. It’s for anyone who has finished their first novel and is now wondering what to do next. It’s for the writer who is at the very start of what they hope is their full time writing career. It’s even for someone who will only ever write as a hobby but who wants to make sure that their book or books are as professional as they can make them. Basically, if you’re a complete newbie at this writing malarkey, this is the site for you.

WARNING: THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS SPOILERS Ah, the twist. My favourite part of a good novel, film or play. The bit where what you were expecting to happen becomes something that is yanked from under your feet, with a completely unexpected outcome taking its place. The...
So, you’ve written your novel, you’ve edited it, polished it, proof-read it and finally, published it. You’ve gained a few reviews and a few sales. But you want to know how to reach more readers and – let’s face it – perhaps make a bit more money. So how can you do...
Stop! Ha, that got your attention, didn’t it? I’m going to start off this blog post on how authors can use social media by going completely arse about face and telling you that, before you get started with ANY social media platform, the most important thing you can do...
Do you want to be an author? Are you one of those people who have ‘always wanted to write a book’ but have somehow never quite got around to actually writing one? It’s an ambition that is probably on many people’s bucket lists but it can be quite surprisingly hard to fulfil. You know what they say, everybody has a book in them but what can you do to actually turn that ‘book inside you’ into a real-life story?
Or perhaps you dream of actually making a living as an author? Perhaps you’ve always loved writing and telling stories and creating dream worlds, but you don’t quite know how to turn that talent and that creativity into a living? Perhaps you’ve written one book already or more than one but you don’t seem to be able to get anybody to read them, let alone buy them. You write because you love it but it wouldn’t it be nice to have some kind of external validation of what you do, whether that’s in financial reward, or happy readers or both?
The trouble with both these scenarios is that you’re trying to achieve your dream as well as struggling on through life dealing with all the myriad stresses and difficulties that occur. Even if you are determined to write your book, where do you find the time to write when you work full time or you have young children? Perhaps you both work full time and have young children? Perhaps you have other caring responsibilities or financial worries and you just can’t see how you’re ever going to have either the time or the money to produce a finished book, let alone more than one.
It’s hard. I know it is. I was in exactly that position for years so I really do understand where you’re coming from. But I’d like to tell you that, if you truly dream of becoming an author, whether for one book or for many, then it is possible. And this website will show you how.
